ATHERTON, CA – Menlo College Baseball Head Coach Mike Givens has announced the addition of Kris Mims to the Oaks' coaching staff as pitching coach for the 2027 season. Mims returns to Menlo after serving as a volunteer assistant during the 2026 season, when the Oaks competed in their final PacWest campaign. A former Menlo baseball player who competed for the Oaks in 2003, Mims returns to his alma mater as the program prepares for its next chapter in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), where he will oversee the development and preparation of the Menlo pitching staff.

Mims brings nearly two decades of Bay Area high-school coaching experience to the Oaks. He began his coaching career at Los Altos High School (2007–12), followed by a stint as the varsity head coach at Silver Creek High School (2013–14) before taking over the Mountain View program in 2015. During nine seasons with the Spartans, Mims became the winningest baseball coach in school history with 137 victories and led Mountain View to its first CCS baseball championship in 2019, capturing the CCS Division I title.

In addition to his high-school coaching career, Mims owned and operated Brushback Baseball for 15 years, growing the organization to as many as nine teams and providing year-round instruction and player development throughout the Bay Area. He has helped more than 100 players commit to college baseball programs, with several advancing to professional baseball, while building relationships with college coaches and programs across the country. Mims now brings that experience back to Menlo, where his focus on preparation, accountability, relationships and competitive development will help lead the Oaks' pitching staff into the program's first season of CCAA competition.
