ATHERTON, CA – Menlo College Baseball welcomes back Mason Hanshaw to the Oaks for the 2026-27 season as a Graduate Assistant, continuing a collegiate baseball journey that has taken him across four programs and now brings him back to Atherton in a new role. After spending his senior season behind the plate for Menlo in 2026, Hanshaw transitions from player to coach with the opportunity to help shape the next generation of Oaks baseball.

Hanshaw made his mark during his senior campaign, starting 21 of 29 appearances during the 2026 PacWest season. The catcher batted .288 with 17 hits, including three doubles and four home runs, while scoring 10 runs and driving in 10. He finished the season with a .542 slugging percentage and .865 OPS. His biggest offensive performance came against Fresno Pacific, where he went 5-for-9 with three home runs, three runs scored and six RBI across a single doubleheader, earning PacWest Player of the Week honors.

"Mason brings something really valuable to our staff because he was just in the players' shoes," said Head Coach Mike Givens. "He understands what it takes to compete at this level and what we're trying to build here at Menlo. He had a great senior season, and now we're excited to see him take that experience into coaching and help our guys get better every day."

Hanshaw's path to Menlo began at The College of Idaho before stops at Chabot College and Sonoma State University ultimately brought him to Atherton for his senior season. Now, he returns to the program with a firsthand understanding of the student-athlete experience and a desire to continue building the winning culture he became part of as an Oak. As he moves from the catcher's box to the dugout, Hanshaw will bring his playing experience, knowledge of the game and perspective as a former teammate to the Menlo coaching staff.
