Menlo College

Kris Mims returns to Menlo College for the 2027 season as the Oaks’ pitching coach after serving as a volunteer assistant during Menlo’s inaugural PacWest season in 2026. A former Menlo baseball player in 2003, Mims will oversee the development and preparation of the pitching staff under Head Coach Mike Givens as the Oaks enter CCAA competition. He brings nearly two decades of Bay Area high-school coaching experience, beginning at Los Altos High School (2007–12), followed by a two-year stint as the varsity head coach at Silver Creek High School (2013–14) before taking over the Mountain View High School program in 2015. During nine seasons with the Spartans, Mims became the winningest coach in school history with 137 victories and led Mountain View to its first CCS baseball championship, capturing the 2019 CCS Division I title.

In addition to his high-school coaching career, Mims owned and operated Brushback Baseball for 15 years, growing the organization to as many as nine teams and providing year-round instruction and player development. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped more than 100 players commit to college baseball programs, with several advancing to professional baseball. His experience developing players and navigating the recruiting process has helped him build relationships with college coaches and programs across the country. Mims’ coaching philosophy is built around preparation, accountability, relationships and competitive player development, making his return to Menlo a full-circle opportunity to help prepare the next generation of Oaks for success on and off the field.
