LONG BEACH, CA – Menlo College senior first baseman Matt Morrison has been named the PacWest Conference Player of the Week for the first week of the 2026 season following a stellar performance that helped lead the Oaks to a 2-1 start in their opening series against CSU East Bay.

A native of Santa Cruz, California, Morrison put together an outstanding week at the plate, hitting a remarkable .750 (9-for-12) with four RBIs, two doubles, and four runs scored. His consistent production and timely hitting played a key role in Menlo's early success and also earned him Menlo Athletics Oak of the Week honors.
Morrison opened the weekend with a standout performance in a 9-8 victory to begin the series, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, including what proved to be the game-winning run. He continued his hot streak in game two, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Morrison closed out the series with a 2-for-4 effort in the finale, driving in two more runs, adding another double, and scoring once.
Through the first week of the season, Morrison leads the Oaks in hits, doubles, RBIs, and batting average. His .750 batting average also tops the entire PacWest Conference.
