SURPRISE, AZ
A tough road trip ended in defeat for the Oaks, who dropped their third game against the Spirit by a score of 11-5. Their record is now 4-10 overall, and 0-3 in GSAC play.
Three Oaks in the Swing of Things
Three Menlo players totaled 2 or more hits in the game: left fielder Jonathan Charboneau and shortstop Zach Dyer had 2 hits each, while center fielder Erik Quinzon had 3.Â
Regarding Quinzon, the senior from Stockton, California leads the Oaks roster with 15 hits, including 3 doubles. One of those doubles came in today's game, tying him for the team lead with Anthony Masetti. Quinzon also stole a base today, his fourth steal of the season, another category in which he is tied for the team lead with Masetti.
One of Zach Dyer's hits, a single in the top of the 2nd, brought home 2 RBIs. In the top of the 7th, one of Jonathan Charboneau's hits, also a single, scored another run for Menlo. Charboneau has the second-most RBIs of any Oak this season, with 6 in his ledger.Â
Solid Spezia
Junior right-hander Joshua Spezia pitched the final 2.0 innings, and made a good account of himself. He completed 6 outs in just 30 pitches, allowing 1 hit and no runs while striking out 2 batters. In 8.0 innings of work so far this season, Spezia has struck out 8 and walked no batters.
