BASEBALL GOES 0-2 IN DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST OUAZ

SURPRISE, AZ

The Oaks continued their road trip with a doubleheader in Arizona on Thursday, but lost both games to the Spirit. Their record is now 4-9 overall, and 0-2 in conference play.

Game 1: Menlo 1 - 10 OUAZ

Second baseman Anthony Masetti had an excellent day at the plate in the first game, going 3-4 with a double. So far this season, the senior from Redwood City, California leads Menlo with 14 hits. He also has the most doubles of any Oak, with 3.

Senior right-hander Steve Soto entered the game as a reliever very early, taking the reins in the bottom of the third and pitching the rest of the game. In those 6.0 innings, he struck out 3 batters and allowed just 4 hits.

Freshman Chaz Kaneakuna, coming to Menlo from Makawao, Hawaii, made his third appearance of the season in the game. Playing as the designated hitter, Kaneakuna went 2-4.

Game 2: Menlo 1 - 2 OUAZ

The Oaks stayed in the second game all the way to the end, ultimately falling to a walk-off bunt in the bottom of the 9th. Menlo's run came in the top of the 1st, when newcomer Jonathan Charboneau sent a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Anthony Masetti. Charboneau's 5 RBIs so far this season are the second-most by any Oak.

Starting pitcher Logan Snow put in a solid 5.1 innings of work, allowing just 3 hits and no earned runs while striking out 2 batters. Snow leads all Menlo pitchers in strikeouts this season, with 22 to his name.
