Bill Ochs

A two-sport standout on both the baseball and soccer fields, Bill Ochs was part of the impressive 1-2 scoring combo that included fellow 2017 inductee Jorge Boza. Ochs also impressed on the baseball diamond as a slick-fielding infielder who consistently hit above .300 in each of his two seasons on the team and was the heart of the team's infield. On the soccer field, he was second on the team in goals in 1966 with 12 and followed it up with a team-leading 18 goals in the 1967 season and earned All-Conference honors as a freshman for his efforts. Combined, Ochs and Boza scored 94% of the teams total goals over the course of those two seasons under legendary head coach Carlos Lopez. Following his time at Menlo, Ochs was offered a soccer scholarship to Denver University, but he declined to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a Marine, Ochs was a radio specialist at 29 Palms and Camp Pendelton. Following his service, he earned his degree at Cleveland State University.

"It's an honor to be inducted and it's been a lot of fun reconnecting with teammates and classmates and reliving some of our memories from that time," said Ochs. "It's exciting to be going into the Hall of Fame with a teammate like Jorge [Boza]. It was a whole lot of fun playing with him and it'll be a lot of fun receiving this honor with him as well."
