2026 Spring Campaign On Horizon For Menlo Women's & Men's Golf

1/29/2026 1:11:00 PM

ATHERTON, CA – Ready to pick up where they left off in late October, Menlo Men's and Women's Golf continue their 2025-26 campaign as winter turns to spring in the months ahead. Led by Director of Golf Jess Stimack and his coaching staff, the Oaks prepare to challenge many of their fellow NCAA Division II teams over a six-tournament stretch, culminating with the Pacific West Conference Championships in April.

Women's Golf – Building On The Fall Season
Quickly demonstrating their talents in the collegiate realm, freshmen Kim Penzold and Ester Otiepkova put themselves at the forefront of the Oaks' attack this past fall. Penzold's 76.7 average score paced the team and two of her best rounds of the year nearly resulted in her first individual championship at the RCA Electric Invitational. Meanwhile, Otiepkova shot in the 70's in over half of her fall rounds, starting and ending the season with bests of 1-over-73 scores that contributed to a total of three top-15 finishes.

A steadying force as a returner, junior Julia Torrez carries momentum from the two best rounds of her fall season at her most recent competition, the East Bay Fall Tournament. There, she bettered over 30 other golfers, continuously moving up the leaderboard as the rounds progressed.

Men's Golf – Springing Forward
Guiding the men's team, graduate student Jack Stark and junior Cole Kroeker combined to lead the Oaks through all four fall tournaments. Stark turned in the best average score (73.3) on the squad in those competitions, highlighting the season's opening half with a third-place result among nearly 100 golfers at the Otter Invitational that led him to be named PacWest Golfer of the Week. The team's top finisher in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate, Kroeker steadily improved his scores during the fall before going out with a seventh-place result that included his second straight competition with his best round of the season at a 2-under 70.

Looking to add depth for the Oaks as they progress through the spring season, freshman QiFeng "Adam" Tong represents one of the many young talented golfers immediately ready to contribute. Tong impressed in his collegiate debut during the fall, turning in three rounds all within four shots of par at the RCA Electric Invitational.

Schedule Highlights – Road To The PacWest Championships
Beginning their spring campaign more than one month before the men's team, the Menlo women's squad opens with the LA Spring Kickoff hosted by Cal State LA in Downey on Feb. 2-3. Some 20 days later, the Oaks will compete locally in Alameda at Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout (Feb. 23-24) before both the women and men host the RCA Electric Spring Invitational from Coyote Creek Golf Club in Morgan Hill on Mar. 5-6. Next it will be the men's turn to appear in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout (Mar. 9-10) before the two teams will split competitions on Mar. 23-24 with the women in Dominican's Richmond College Invitational and the men in Beaumont for Cal State San Bernardino's Coyote Classic.

The month of April brings a trip to Sonoma for the men as they challenge others in the Dominican Spring Invitational (Apr. 6-7) then, in both squads' final tuneup before the postseason, Apr. 13-14 sees the men at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock while the women travel to Chico State's Wildcat Invitational. A return to North Las Vegas and the Aliante Golf Club concludes the year as the Pacific West Conference Championships will take place Apr. 20-22.
