CARMEL, CA – A dramatic final day of the RCA Electric Invitational had Menlo Women's Golf nearly produce the tournament victor as freshman
Kim Penzold ended in second place, one stroke behind the leader out at Quail Lodge Golf Resort on Tuesday.

Kim Penzold led the 30-golfer field by three strokes after the first day and finished with a tournament-high eight birdies

Freshmen Lead The Way
Penzold was the leader for nearly the entirety of the last 18 holes, ending the day with an 8-over-par 79 that featured three birdies and contributed to her 10-over-par 223. She tied Hawaii Pacific's Isabella Iorio for second place overall and was just one stroke back of Kameron "Kami" Kwong.
Tying for 13th after moving up four spots with a 6-over-par 77 final round, freshman
Ester Otiepkova turned in five consecutive pars at one point down the stretch to give her a 26-over-par 239 through the two days of action. Rounding out the Oaks qualifiers were sophomore
Kayla Lancaster, who rose one spot into a tie for 20th at 36-over-par 249, along with the tandem of freshman
Laura Goertzen and junior
Julia Torrez, who shared 24th place with identical 39-over-par 252 scores.
