Atherton, CA-Today the Menlo Men's Volleyball team battled against the Arizona Christian Firestorm. The Oaks served up a clean win in a three set match, accenting their skill and crafty play. Unstoppable from the service line, the Oaks aced the Firestorm right out of the gym and moved their conference record to 3-3.
On Fire from the Service Line
Konrad Stoklosinski returns to the spotlight and leaves Arizona Christian in the dark. In the first set Stoklosinski picked up five aces, three of which were back-to-back-to-back. Beyond that, he was the kill leader of the match and reminded everyone that he is an integral part of the team. As a team, the Oaks had 12 total aces and 37 kills across the three sets. Nothing could stop the flurry of attacks Menlo was dishing out. With only nine errors as a team, they collectively hit an average of 0.378, an incredible performance across the board.
No Comebacks Allowed
Sets one and two were handled spectacularly, winning 25-13 and 25-17. In the third set the Firestorm battled hard and were tied with Menlo at 8-8 until Connel Kane was able to ward off an incredible hit that was sent outside the antenna and over the net. His brother, Jack Kane, also made a spectacular play, running after it and playing the ball back on our side to keep the ball alive. The point ended with a crushing back-row attack from Stoklosinski that snuffed out any hope still left for the Firestorms. The Oaks picked up a nice win on the back end of Spring Break with a final set of 25-16.
