Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Drew Barton

Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated After 0-0 Draw With Lincoln University

Atherton, CA- After having their match against Cal State Maritime canceled due to poor air quality, Menlo Men's Soccer got back to business against the visiting Oaklanders of Lincoln University. Defense was the name of the game for the Oaks as they once again did not allow a goal and have only conceded three goals on the season.

Dialed In Defensively

Once again Menlo's backline made its presence felt throughout the 90 minute contest. Defenders David Stuber, Ian Brusewitz & Roy Rosenberg showcased their usual high level of intensity and endurance playing all 90 minutes of the match. Their ability to contain Lincoln's offense was on full display only allowing seven shots, two of which were on goal.

Starting goalie Benjamin Fish made sure that the Oaklander's two shots were not an issue as he would go on to record two saves during his 90 minutes of action. Kenji Vivas, Isak Haukefier,Ryan Herrington & Joe Archer would all provide valuable minutes off of the bench for the Oaks. With only three goals allowed on the season head coach Keith Lambert's defense is firing on all cylinders with conference play right around the corner.

Oaks on the Attack

While unable to find the back of the net, the Oaks offense was constantly on the attack with some great moments of ball movement and aggression. While only allowing seven shots, Menlo would total 19 with nine of them on goal. Ryan Branigan and Axel Valle led the Oaks on the offensive combining for seven shots with each having two on goal.

Anil Ismailzada would provide a big spark for the Oaks in his 37 minutes of play as well. Manning the midfield, Ismailzada constantly served as a lynchpin for both offensive and defensive action for the Oaks. He would go on to contribute 4 shots with one of them being on goal.

Up Next…

The Oaks will continue their home stand with their next catch coming up next Thursday at 4:00 PM against the visiting OUAZ Spirit. They will follow up that match with another Arizona rival as the Firestorm of ACU will be making the trip up to Atherton for a Saturday showdown on September 30th!
