Continuing to lead Menlo Taekwondo in the program’s debut season, the trio of Nicholas Carlo, Kaitlyn Marie Reclusado, and Kylie Lewis qualified to the U.S. National Team at the U.S. Team Trials in Oklahoma this past weekend. In the +87 kilogram class on January 30, Carlo swept through his three opponents all by 2-0 scores, earning gold and the ensuing opportunity to represent his country. One day later in Poomsae, Reculsado faced off against a fellow Pan American Championships gold medalist and was able to secure her spot as the top finisher following a spectacular freestyle round. Lewis punctuated Menlo’s memorable weekend on February 1 with three perfect rounds in the -73 kilogram class, letting her international experience show in another run to gold.
