High School:
Hruby was a three-year letter winner  at Skutt Catholic High School (Omaha, Neb.) who helped her team to a pair of conference championships, a district championship and a trip to the state finals during her tenure. Well-decorated for her successes, Hruby was named all-conference, World Hearld Class B All-State Honorable Mention, World Herald Second Team All-Area, Lincoln Journal Star Class B All-State, Class B All-Tournament team and was a three-time academic All-Conference selection. She aldo played for the Nebraska Elite Volleyball Club.​
