Previous Experience:
Jimena attended and competed for the Lincoln School for her prep career, a member of the Association of American Schools of Central America (AASCA). The AASCA features some of the top schools throughout Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, and boasts some of the highest high school competition throughout these countries. Jimena began her freshman career running track and cross country, as well as playing for the volleyball and soccer teams at Lincoln. As a freshman, she won AASCA Gold Medals in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, as well as in a 6x1000m cross country relay. As a sophomore, Jimena added swimming to her already impressive arsenal of sports, but continued to stand out in track and field and cross country. She would once again gold medal in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races as well as the 6K and 6x1000m cross country races at the AASCA level, setting the AASCA record in all of those races with the exception of the 800m and the 6x1000m races. Jimena would also go onto her first National competition, winning gold at the U18 level in the 3000m and silver in the 1500m. From that point, Jimena's national competition career really took off, as she would win U18 golds in the 1500m and 3000m last year, and just this year, secured golds in the U20 1500m, 3000m, 5000m and cross country 6K, being named to the U20 Costa Rican Cross Country National Team. It's been a stellar career for Jimena on the track and course, and we can't wait to see her continue it at Menlo College.
