ATHERTON, CA – Menlo Men's Soccer delivered a hard-fought performance against the visiting Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks, but ultimately fell 0-1 after a second-half goal decided Saturday's contest. The Oaks created opportunities throughout the match and continued to build momentum late, but Northwest Nazarene's defense held firm to preserve the shutout and secure the victory.

Oaks Create Chances Throughout Competitive Match
Menlo came out with attacking intent, creating several opportunities early in the match. Tim Schwarz tested the Nighthawks' goalkeeper twice within the opening five minutes, while Sam Archer, Janne Spangenberg and others continued to generate chances as the first half progressed. Enrico Ehret also forced a save late in the opening half, keeping the Oaks active in the attacking third. The Oaks continued that pressure after halftime, with Manuel Portillo and Spangenberg creating chances early in the second half. Tonley came up with his lone save of the match shortly before Northwest Nazarene found the breakthrough, keeping the contest level until the 65th minute.
Menlo responded by continuing to push for an equalizer. Roy Rosenberg, Ehret and Schwarz each created additional opportunities in the final 20 minutes, and the Oaks kept the pressure on despite Northwest Nazarene's defensive resistance. The Nighthawks ultimately held on to the one-goal advantage through the final whistle.
