CHICO, CA – Menlo Women's Soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to Chico State on Saturday afternoon. The Oaks battled throughout the 90 minutes, with goalkeeper Caroline Cordes and the Menlo defense keeping the Wildcats off the scoreboard for the final portion of the match.

Oaks Battle Defensively
Menlo created a few opportunities in the opening half, with Dollins testing the Chico goalkeeper in the 14th minute. Vasquez Lopez followed with a shot in the 24th minute, while Rabara added another attempt in the 32nd minute as the Oaks looked to find an opening in the Wildcat defense. After Chico opened the scoring in the first half, Menlo faced a 0-2 deficit following a penalty kick goal in the 27th minute. The Oaks entered halftime looking to regroup and came out of the break determined to keep the match within reach.
Cordes and the Menlo defense settled in during the second half, keeping Chico off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match. Cordes made consecutive saves in the 68th minute before adding another stop late in the contest. Casteel registered Menlo's lone second-half shot in the 64th minute, but the Oaks were unable to generate the offensive pressure needed to get on the scoreboard.

Menlo returns to action on Friday, Sept. 25th, when the Oaks face the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 pm.
