ARCATA, CA – Menlo Men's Soccer opened its 2026 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) schedule on Friday, falling 0-3 to Cal Poly Humboldt. The Oaks battled through a scoreless first half before the Lumberjacks broke through with three second-half goals. It was a sweet homecoming for Head Coach Keith Lambert was got to visit his alma mater, then known as Humboldt State.

Sights Move to Chico
Menlo came out of the gates creating opportunities, with Few testing Cal Poly Humboldt goalkeeper in the fifth minute. The Oaks continued to earn corner-kick chances throughout the opening half, while Aidan Bautista added a shot in the 36th minute. Menlo and Humboldt entered halftime scoreless after an evenly contested opening 45 minutes.
The Lumberjacks broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when their forward converted a penalty kick to give Humboldt a 0-1 lead. The Oaks continued to push for an equalizer, with Giuseppe Sigala and Roy Rosenberg each recording second-half shots, but Humboldt extended its lead in the 77th minute on a goal. They later converted their second penalty kick of the match in the 83rd minute to complete the scoring.
Madshus kept the Oaks within striking distance with saves throughout the second half, including a stop on a Grosveld attempt just before Humboldt's third goal. Menlo continued to generate chances late, with Tim Schwarz and Liam Brittenstam each recording shots in the final 15 minutes.
