CFA Institute Research Challenge Northern California Champions - Haley Narahara, Martin Fiala, Marc Hegele, Donovan KerrLONG BEACH, CA – Further building upon a stellar collegiate career, Menlo Men's Soccer senior goalkeeper Martin Fiala was named 2025-26 PacWest Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Tuesday. A Finance major from the Czech Republic, Fiala becomes the first Menlo Soccer student-athlete to earn this prestigious award that recognizes excellence in both athletic performance and academic achievement.

Inspiring those around him both on and off the field, Fiala's relentless work ethic and leadership were exemplified on the pitch by his second All-PacWest Team selection and three weekly honors this past season. Fiala started all 17 matches in 2025, amassing a .737 save percentage to lead the PacWest while ranking third in goals against average (1.23) and fourth in shutouts (3). His ability to read the game and deliver under pressure was never more evident than in Menlo's final match of the season, where he made a stunning penalty kick save in the 87th minute to secure a draw. Fiala's legacy will be remembered as one of poise, passion, and championship mentality.

When not thriving in between the posts for the Oaks, Fiala was busy perfecting his 4.0 cumulative grade point average in Finance with an impressive collection of other accomplishments. He served as a member of the Student Government Association and placed first in the 2026 CFA Research Institute Challenge while also earning the Señor Carlos Lopez Award, Wall Street Journal Award, and CSC Academic All-District.

Menlo College celebrates Fiala's exceptional accomplishments and thanks him for the lasting impact he has made on the Men's Soccer program and the campus community.
