LONG BEACH, CA – In a weekend packed with fireworks at the plate and momentum-swinging rallies at Cartan Field, the Pacific West Conference has named Oliver Hogan its Baseball Player of the Week after a dominant four-game showing that powered Menlo College to a hard-fought series split against Concordia University Irvine. Hogan becomes just the third Oak ever to earn the honor and the second this season under Head Coach Mike Givens.
Hogan's Bat Fuels Menlo in Series Split
Hogan's numbers tell the story of a player locked in at every turn. Across the series, he went 11-for-16 (.687) with eight runs scored, four doubles, a home run, and a stolen base, consistently igniting the offense in key moments. Whether setting the tone early or delivering in late-inning pressure situations, Hogan applied constant pressure to Concordia's pitching staff and proved nearly impossible to contain.
Day one, Hogan erupted for a 7-for-8 performance across the doubleheader, scoring six runs while adding three doubles, a home run, one RBI, and a stolen base. He sparked immediate responses to early Concordia runs with back-to-back extra-base hits and later jumpstarted another rally with a clutch double that brought the home crowd to its feet. His presence at the top of the lineup fueled multiple comeback pushes and kept the Oaks within striking distance throughout a high-scoring battle.
He carried that same intensity into day two, finishing 4-for-8 with two RBI, two runs scored, a walk, and a double. Hogan delivered timely RBI singles during a five-run offensive surge and continued to manufacture opportunities with disciplined at-bats and aggressive baserunning. His consistency anchored a complete team effort as the Oaks battled inning by inning, showcasing resilience and depth against a tough conference opponent.
Hogan's impact extends well beyond one standout weekend, as he currently ranks among the Pacific West Conference leaders in multiple offensive categories. He sits third in the conference with a .413 batting average, second in on-base percentage at .541, fifth in OPS at 1.193, and third overall in hitting. Within the Menlo College lineup, Hogan leads the team in batting average (.413) and runs scored (18), while his five doubles tie him for first on the roster alongside Shane Aldridge and Matt Morrison, further underscoring his all-around production at the plate.
