Mike Givens

Mike Givens enters the 2025-26 season with a new title and a new chapter - as the Head Baseball Coach at Menlo College. After an outstanding eight-year run as the Director of Golf, where he led both the Men’s and Women’s Golf programs to historic success, Coach Givens now shifts his leadership to the diamond.


During his tenure with the golf programs, Givens guided the Oaks through their transition to NCAA Division II and the PacWest Conference, overseeing some of the most successful seasons in program history. Under his direction, both teams achieved unprecedented success on the course and in the classroom.


Men’s Golf Highlights under Givens:

  • 9 tournament victories

  • First-ever NAIA Top 25 national ranking

  • School record for single-season birdies (2021–22)

  • Coached 9 NAIA Scholar-Athletes

  • Mentored Fredrik Ingul, 2017–18 Menlo College Freshman Athlete of the Year

  • Coached Nicolas Guy-Landry, 2021–22 GSAC Freshman of the Year, 2023–24 All-Conference selection, and 2024-25 Men's Golf PacWest Scholar-Athlete of the Year

  • Led the team to a 3.51 cumulative GPA in 2023–24, earning the GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award and President's Special Recognition


Women’s Golf Achievements:

  • 13 total tournament championships

  • 11 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes

  • Achieved a 3.65 team GPA in 2022–23

  • Back-to-back NAIA Top 15 national rankings

  • Coached three GSAC Players of the Year, all named NAIA First Team All-Americans:

    • Julika Grosspietsch

    • Data Urbankova

    • Catherine Batang

  • Coached Isa San Antonio, the 2022–23 GSAC Freshman of the Year

  • Named GSAC Coach of the Year and Menlo Athletics Coach of the Year in 2022

  • Helped Catherine Batang earn the program’s highest individual honors:

    • Record for most tournament wins

    • 2nd place finish at the NAIA National Championship Tournament

    • NAIA First Team All-American

  • #1 national individual ranking during the 2022–23 season
  • Coaches Holly Obermuller during record-breaking senior season, who went on to be names Spring Female Athlete of the Year and PacWest All-Conference.  


Coach Givens celebrated his 25th career tournament win as a head coach during the 2024-25 season, capping off a remarkable chapter in Menlo Athletics history.


Now at the helm of the Menlo Baseball program, Givens brings a proven track record of success, a championship-caliber mindset, and a relentless dedication to student-athlete development. His leadership, attention to detail, and passion for coaching are poised to make an immediate impact as the Oaks step into a new era under his guidance.
