LOS ANGELES, CA – Shining with his highest kill total of the season against No. 4 Southern California,
Max Jarrett served as a focal point for the Menlo Men's Volleyball offense, but the Trojans ended up prevailing 14-25, 11-25, 20-25 in the first of a back-to-back set on Friday inside Galen Center.

Match Recap
Jarrett was found by
Joshua Friedman for two kills early on as the Oaks stayed with USC through the first 11 points of the match. A 7-0 run by the home team was soon followed by six of seven as the margin grew to 19-8. The sides traded scores the rest of the way and, despite consecutive kills from Jarrett and
Alexandre Ferdani, the Trojans won the opening set 25-14.

The first two kills of the second set were both authored by Jarrett, but two separate 6-0 runs by USC allowed them to separate for the eventual 25-11 win. Three different Oaks then put down kills in a back-and-forth start to the third frame where one point separated the teams at 13-12 after Jarrett added two more kills. Menlo remained within striking distance the rest of the way, cutting Southern California's lead down to 22-20 on a triple block by Jarrett,
Kai Van Haaren, and
Garrett Hockman yet the Trojans were able to take the set 25-20 and subsequently the match.
