TULSA, OK – Continuing to pioneer greatness in the program's debut season, Menlo Taekwondo delivered three new members, Nicholas Carlo, Kaitlyn Marie Reclusado, and Kylie Lewis, to the U.S. National Team at the U.S. Team Trials taking place in Oklahoma this past Friday through Sunday.

"I'm proud of the way our team showed up and competed," said Head Coach TJ Curry. "This experience gives us a strong foundation as we head back into training. Go Oaks!"

Champion Carlo
The first chapter of Carlo's 2026 journey put him into a series of Friday matches against three others in the +87kg class including a competitor in the 2024 U.S. National Championships. Having gained valuable experience in places such as South Korea (2025 Muju Grand Prix) last year, Carlo posted 2-0 victories over Nicholas Caggia, Justin Jimenez, and Frantz Moise along the way to earning gold and the opportunity to represent his country at an international level.

Reclusado Rises
Building upon her 2025 experience that included trips to Germany (FISU World University Games) and Paraguay (Junior Pan American Games) among others, Reclusado found herself challenging Calista Deguzman, Aahana Mulchandani, and Karyn Real in the Poomsae Under 30 Division on Saturday. Reclusado and Real, a multi-time Pan American Championships gold medalist, battled throughout the competitions, but with a spectacular freestyle round, Reclusado outplaced the field to secure her spot as the top finisher with another gold to add to her growing collection.

Legendary Lewis
Lewis, who served as the inaugural Menlo athlete to compete at the 2025 World Taekwondo Grand Prix Challenge in Charlotte last June, made her presence known in the -73kg class on Sunday. She took down multiple USAT National Champions in her bracket, besting Leslie Daniels, Leanna Chan, and Susan Little all by 2-0 scores to collect another gold, closing out Menlo's memorable weekend strong.

Guymon Gets Bronze
Also in action on Friday, Shayler Guymon took down his first opponent in the -68kg class, Roman Basov, but could not get past Khalfani Harris to reach the championship round. In the end, Guymon was awarded a bronze medal for his efforts.

The trio of Oaks to qualify will represent the U.S. National Team in this year's Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro.
