Uyar Earns 18 Kills in Sweep Against CUI to Close Out Regular Season

IRVINE, CA – Menlo Men's Volleyball ended their regular season against Concordia University-Irvine, sweeping the Golden Eagles in dominant fashion 25-15, 25-19, and 25-23. Taking things over from the jump, the Oaks look in form to take the on the MPSF Championship Tournament next week.
 
SET-BY-SET RECAP
The Oaks opened the match with a commanding 25-15 victory over the Golden Eagles. Hitting with a .318 percentage, the Oak's offense was firing on all cylinders, limiting CUI's offense to a negative hitting percentage. The Oak's also proved to be dominant at the net with three blocks and two service aces to take the set.
 
The Oaks took set two with momentum carried from the first, boosting their hitting percentage all the way up to a .481. The offense flowed thorugh the setter's decisions of where to attack, as CUI also struggled to serve the ball, forcing 7 service errors to take a 25-19 second set.
 
CUI came out stronger in the final set of the night, but the Oak's maintained their composure to close out the night. The set featured 6 ties and 3 lead changed before the Oaks were able to pull away with a 25-23 set victory. The Oaks blocking came back alive with six total blocks in the set, shutting the door on the Golden Eagles and closing out the night.
 

Key Oak Performers
Mustafa Sulçuk Uyar: Led the Oaks in kills on the night with 18 while hitting a .484 hitting percentage, 2 aces,  and collecting 7 blocks defensively and earning 5 digs to close out an outstanding all-around performance.
 
William Lawler: Tallied 30 assists and 1 ace to distribute around the offense.
 
Wojiciech Nowak: Nowak delivered an all-around performance that boosted the Oaks performance. Nowak collected 7 kills, 4 digs and 1 blocks on the night.
 
Thomas Fanic: The Oak's go to performer at the net, Fanic collected 7 blocks on the night to disturb CUI's offense to push the Oaks to victory.
