Menlo Men's Volleyball Falls to Stanford at the MPSF Men's Volleyball Championship

MALIBU, CA – The Menlo Men's Volleyball team saw their inaugural MPSF campaign come to a close end in a tough four-set battle against Stanford inside of the Firestone Fieldhouse. Competing in the second round of the MPSF Championship, the Oaks gave a valiant effort against the Cardinal but were edged out after taking the opening set.

SET-BY-SET RECAP
Coming into the match, the Oaks came in as the 7th seed and Stanford the 6th. The Oaks would come out hot in the first set with the offense firing on all cylinders. The Oaks would earn an outstanding .429 hitting percentage along with two aces, with 4 digs and 3 total blocks defensively. The second set saw Stanford pick up their offense. The Cardinal would take an early set lead, with the Oaks fighting to gain momentum. Menlo's offense was held to a .235 hitting percentage but Stanford's crucial defensive digs in the set proved to be another factor that led to 20-25 set defeat for Menlo.

In what would be the final set of the season, Menlo once again matched Stanford point-for-point. The Oaks hit a .480 in the frame and led earned a lead in the middle of the set. Stanford would regain the lead and held on til' the end of the match with the Oaks falling 23-25.
