Menlo Men's Volleyball Sweeps Vanguard on Senior Day

ATHERTON, CA – Menlo Men's Volleyball held their final home match of the season against the Lions of Vanguard University inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion while celebrating the seniors for senior day. The Oaks beat the Lions the night before, looking to carry the momentum into their second meeting.

Final Three Sets Inside of the Prim
The opening set was a thrilling battling that feature 14 ties and 5 lead changes. Both sides of court continued to battle for points and momentum. The Oak's would fall behind in the final points of the set but would end up earning two critical kills. Despite some late pushback from the Lions, the Oaks stayed poised and took the first set with a gritty 28-26 finish.

Set two saw Menlo's offense turn up, jumping out to a lead thanks to crisp digs and passing. The Oaks proved to be relentless at the net, adding key blocks that they built on top of their offense. Though the set saw Vanguard go on a brief run, the Oaks shut the door with clutch kills down the stretch to close another set 25-21.

The third set was all Menlo.  Dominant performance at the net and strong serving stumped any type of momentum from Vanguard. The Oaks would six team blocks and finished out the night with Andrew Copp serving in the last point of the night, with Menlo earning a kill and earning a block from seniors Gabriel Knittle and Jack Kane to end the night 25-16.

Key Oak Performances
Mustafa Selçuk Uyar: The senior from Turkey continued dominant season play with 10 kills on a .450 hitting percentage. Uyar also collected 3 blocks on the night along with 7 digs, showcasing an impressive performance on both sides of the ball.

Gabriel Knittel: Knittle delivered a standout performance with 4 kills on a .571 hitting percentage along with 4 block assists that frustrated Vanguard's attack. The California native also added on an ace on the day.

William Lawler: The Oak's floor general maneuvered the offense with ease. Lawler recorded 32 assists and contributed to the defense with 3 digs and a block.
