Menlo Softball Puts Up a Fight Against Nationally Ranked Western Washington

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College Softball program held a non-conference matchup against nationally ranked Vikings of Western Washington University. Despite the valiant effort from the Oak's lineup, Menlo would fall to the Vikings by a score of 0-10 against the #12 team in the nation.

OAK PERFORMANCES
#4 Tacia Kahalewai: 1-for-2, earned the only extra base hit for the Oaks, doubled to right field in the bottom of the 5th.
#21 Lucy Brooks: 1-for-2, earned the first hit for the Oaks, singled to the pitcher off a bunt
#19 Chloe Grimmer: 1-for-1, singled through the right side in bottom of 6th
#8 Alexia Lozano: 1-for-2, singled through the right side in bottom of 6th


GAME RECAP
The Oaks were able to keep Western Washington scoreless in the first inning, with Lucy Brooks earning the first hit of the day for the Oaks as she was able to beat out the pitcher off of a bunt. The Vikings were able to earn 4 runs in the second inning to earn the first runs of the day. Western Washington proved to be lethal at the plate for the Oaks as they would earn 6 more runs on the day. Tacia Kahalewai was able to earn a double into right field which was the Oak's only extra base hit for the game.

Menlo was able to earn two more hits in the bottom of the sixth with Alexia Lozano and Chloe Grimmer both earning back-to-back singles through the right side. Despite having a solid start to the inning, the Oaks were unable to earn a run while in scoring position.
