Menlo Men's Volleyball Unable to Overcome UC Santa Cruz

SANTA CRUZ, CA – Menlo College Men's Volleyball headed down to the coast of Santa Cruz to take on the Banana Slugs of UC Santa Cruz inside of the Kaiser Permanente Arena. A competitive four set battle, but the Oaks would ultimately fall 1-3.

Match Recap
The Banana Slugs were ablet to come out firing from the jump and established an early lead, capitalizing on the Oaks' offensive errors. The Oaks were unable to find any momentum and dropped a 17-25 first set. Menlo was able to regain a little bit momentum during the second set. Battling for every point and making it tough for both teams to go on a run. The Oaks managed to stay within striking distance to take the set but were edged out 23-25.

Trying to turn the match around, the Oaks came out with more intensity in the third set, with key blocks at the net and timely kills allowed Menlo to take control late in the set, securing a 25-22 victory and forcing a fourth frame. With momentum on their side, Menlo continued to push UCSC, but the Banana Slugs responded with strong serving and a disruptive block. Menlo had trouble maintaining its offensive flow, and UCSC took advantage of key transition plays. The set remained close until UCSC pulled away in the final stretch, closing the match with a 25-21 win.
