Menlo Men's Volleyball Drops a Tough Four Set Battle to Jessup

Rocklin, CA – After beating the Warriors at home, the Oaks headed to Rocklin, CA to take on Jessup for the second time this season. The Oaks battled hard but ultimately fell in four sets at the Warrior Arena. Despite a strong first set, the Oaks were unable to get past Jessup's offense as the match progressed.
 
Match Recap
In set one the Oaks came out firing, taking control early with an efficient attack strategy. The Oaks were able to tally 8 kills and limited the Warriors hitting percentage to -.091 to cruise to a 25-15 win. Jessup responded in a tightly contested second set that featured 11 ties and multiple lead changes. Menlo recorded 12 kills and a .240 hitting percentage, but Jessup capitalized on key plays late to take the set 22-25 and even the match. The third set mirrored the second, with both teams battling back and forth. Menlo kept pace with 12 kills, but Jessup's strong serving and blocking proved the difference. The Oaks fell 22-25, putting them behind 1-2 in the match. Jessup carried its momentum into the final set, by earning an efficient attack while limiting Menlo's offense. The Oaks struggled to find a rhythm, hitting negative (-.042) with 7 kills and 8 errors as Jessup would end up closing the match 17-25 in the fourth.
 
Oaks Star Performers
Connell Kane was able to deliver a strong performance with 7 kills on 10 attempts, posting a .600 hitting percentage as he also contributed 3 digs and 2 blocks. Gabriel Knittle was a force at the net by tallying 6 kills, 3 blocks, and 5 digs. William Lawler was he Oaks' main setter and dished out 32 assists, a service ace, and contributed 5 digs. The senior, Mustafa Selçuk Uyar recorded 7 kills, 6 digs,  3 solo blocks, and also added 2 service aces, providing a spark from the service line.
