Menlo Softball Faces Tough Test at Concordia University Irvine

IRVINE, CA – Menlo Softball continued its PacWest Conference slate with a challenging road doubleheader against Concordia University Irvine on Monday. The Oaks battled against one of the conference's top teams but fell in both games, dropping Game 1 by an 0-11 score and Game 2 by a 2-10 margin, both in five innings. Though the results were not in their favor, Menlo continues to grow as a program, gaining valuable experience against elite competition.

Key Moments from the Doubleheader

  • Game 2: The Oaks broke through offensively, scoring two runs in the second and third innings.

  • Tacia Kahalewai recorded a hit in Game 2, helping spark the offense.

  • Bella Cortez drove in a run with a key RBI hit in the second game.

  • Rosaline Torralva & Destanee Perez combined to pitch in Game 2, working through a tough Concordia lineup.

Game 1: Menlo 0 - 11 CUI (5 innings)

The first game of the doubleheader saw the Oaks struggle to generate offense against a formidable Concordia pitching staff. The Golden Eagles came out aggressive, scoring early and often, including a five-run third inning that put the game out of reach.

Menlo's defense worked hard to limit damage, but Concordia's relentless offense proved too much. Despite the loss, the Oaks continued to show resilience in the face of adversity, using the experience to prepare for the second matchup.

Game 2: Menlo 2 - 10 CUI (5 innings)

The second game saw a more competitive effort from Menlo, as the Oaks managed to put runs on the board. Bella Cortez delivered a clutch RBI in the second inning, giving Menlo early momentum. Tacia Kahalewai added a hit to keep the offense moving, while aggressive baserunning helped push across another run in the third inning.

Concordia, however, responded in a big way, using a five-run third inning to take control. Despite the efforts of Rosaline Torralva and Destanee Perez in the circle, the Golden Eagles' offense continued to apply pressure, leading to the 2-10 final after five innings.

Looking Ahead

The Oaks remain focused on growth and development as they look to build on the positive moments from today's games. With a determined mindset, Menlo will continue battling as they prepare for their game tomorrow to close out this PacWest series against the Golden Eagles at 2pm.
