AZUSA, CA – Menlo Softball showed grit and determination on day two of their four-game series against Azusa Pacific University. The Oaks put together strong performances in both ends of Saturday's doubleheader, competing at a high level against the Cougars but could not pull off the comeback. Menlo heads to Irvine, CA to take on Concordia University Irvine on Monday, February 24th.

Game 1: Menlo 0 - 8 Azusa Pacific (5 innings)

Menlo battled early, keeping Azusa Pacific scoreless through the first two innings. However, the Cougars broke the game open in the third, plating eight runs to take a commanding lead. Despite the rough inning, Brianna Padilla and Destanee Perez combined to keep the Oaks in the game, holding Azusa Pacific scoreless in the final two frames.

The Oaks struggled to generate offense against a dominant Cougars pitching performance, managing just two hits in the contest. Tacia Kahalewai and Aliya Lubrin each tallied a base hit, but Menlo was unable to push a run across, falling 8-0 in Game 1.

Game 2: Menlo 0 - 3 Azusa Pacific

In the second game, Menlo put together another strong showing on defense and in the circle. Destanee Perez held Azusa Pacific scoreless through the first four innings, while Aliya Lubrin and the infield turned multiple key plays to limit Cougar baserunners. Demi Silva threw out a runner attempting to steal second, keeping the game tight.

However, Azusa Pacific capitalized on a fifth-inning opportunity, plating two runs to take control. Despite Menlo's continued fight, including a late-game hit by Kahalewai, the Oaks were unable to mount a comeback, falling 0-3 in a well-fought battle.
