Menlo Baseball Shows Late-Inning Fight in Loss to Gators

ATHERTON, CA – The Menlo College Baseball team wrapped up their series against San Francisco State with a tough 18-3 loss on Saturday. Despite a late push in the seventh inning, the Oaks were unable to keep pace with the Gators' high-powered offense.

A Challenging Battle for the Oaks

The game remained scoreless through the first three innings as Menlo's starter, Chase Barsotti, kept SF State's hitters in check. However, the fourth inning proved to be a turning point as SF State capitalized on multiple opportunities, scoring eight runs to take a commanding lead. Despite a valiant defensive effort, Menlo struggled to contain the Gators' offense, which continued to apply pressure throughout the game.

Menlo showed signs of life in the seventh inning when Carter Harris hit a double down the right field line, scoring Jayshaun Wise and advanced Allie to third base. Flannery followed with a single up the middle to clear the bases for the Oaks. Though the Oaks managed to put three runs on the board in the frame, the deficit proved too great to overcome. Donovan Kerr provided solid relief pitching, striking out two batters, but SF State's offensive firepower was too much to handle.

Up Next….

Despite the tough loss, Menlo remains focused on bouncing back in their next matchup on Sunday, February 16th in a doubleheader against SF State starting at 11am. The Oaks will look to regroup and improve.
