Menlo Baseball Wraps Up Series Against SF State with Doubleheader in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Oaks Baseball closed out its three-game series against San Francisco State with a Sunday doubleheader at Maloney Field. Facing a strong SF State lineup once more, the Oaks fought hard but were ultimately unable to secure a victory. Despite the results, Menlo showcased resilience and key performances in both games.

Key Moments from the Doubleheader

  • Game 1: Menlo put up a four-run effort, including home runs from Samuel Brewer and Bradley Morris, but fell 12-4.

  • Game 2: A competitive battle saw Menlo stay within striking distance until a late SF State surge led to a 5-0 final.

  • Samuel Brewer hit two home runs in Game 1, driving in three runs.

  • Bradley Morris also hit a home run in Game 1

  • Zach Dyer reached base multiple times and recorded a stolen base in the series.

  • Richard Kiel started Game 1 and pitched six innings, striking out five batters.

Game 1: SF 12 - 4 Menlo

Menlo opened the first game of the doubleheader with early momentum, as Samuel Brewer sent a towering home run over the left field fence in the second inning to put the Oaks on the board. Three batters later, Bradley Morris would also homer over the left field fence, giving the Oaks some energy. SF State responded swiftly with a six-run explosion in the bottom half of the frame, taking control of the game.

The Oaks continued to battle, with Samuel Brewer launching his second home run of the game in the sixth inning, but SF State's offense proved relentless. Despite a strong pitching performance from Richard Kiel, who tallied five strikeouts over six innings, Menlo was unable to contain the Gators' bats, leading to a 4-12 final score.

Game 2: SF 5 - 0 Menlo

Menlo battled throughout Game 2, keeping it a close contest into the later innings. Pitching kept both teams in check early, with Menlo's defense preventing SF State from taking an early lead. Freshman Trey Silva started for the second time this season and went 2.0 IP. The Oaks saw a strong performance from Zach Dyer, who singled in the third inning and later advanced on a hit from Samuel Brewer.

However, SF State broke through in the fourth inning with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. The game remained close until the sixth inning when the Gators capitalized on a wild pitch and a key RBI single, extending their lead. Menlo was unable to mount a late comeback, ultimately falling 0-5.
