Menlo Women's Basketball Extends Win Streak to Seven with Gritty Valentines Day Victory

FRESNO, CA – Menlo Women's Basketball continued their incredible run, securing their seventh straight victory with a hard-fought 77-60 win over Fresno Pacific at the Special Events Center on Valentines Day. The Oaks showcased their resilience and execution, pulling away in the second half to solidify their standing in the PacWest.


 

Getting the Job Done

  • Alberte Frisch led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range.

  • Mehkia Applewhite delivered a stellar two-way performance with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.

  • Jordyn Rosette was a force on both ends, contributing 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal.

  • Jesni Cooper recorded 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist while playing key minutes.

  • Zoe Carrillo anchored the paint with a game-high 9 rebounds and a crucial defensive presence.


 

Ate and Left No Crumbs

The Oaks shot an efficient 50% from the field, including 46% (7-of-15) from three-point range. They also dominated at the free-throw line, converting 22-of-29 (75.9%).

Menlo opened strong with a commanding 23-12 first quarter, establishing an early lead. However, Fresno Pacific battled back in the second quarter, closing the gap to just two points at halftime. The Oaks responded in the third quarter with an impressive 24-point surge, fueled by clutch three-point shooting and high-pressure defense.

Defensively, Menlo forced 19 turnovers, turning them into 24 points. Their ability to capitalize on fast-break opportunities was crucial, scoring 16 points in transition. The Oaks also controlled the boards, matching Fresno Pacific with 32 rebounds while limiting second-chance points.

As the final buzzer sounded, Menlo's defensive tenacity and offensive efficiency secured yet another thrilling victory, proving their status as one of the hottest teams in the conference.

Menlo now sits in the #6 spot in the PacWest with a 10-6 record, 14-9 overall. The Oaks look to extend their winning streak as they return home to face Chaminade on Monday, February 17th at 5:30pm!
