Oaks Hoops Cruises Past Cal Maritime in Commanding Win

ATHERTON, CA – Menlo Men's Basketball lit up Haynes-Prim Pavilion with an electrifying performance, defeating Cal Maritime 99-73. With a balanced attack and relentless defense, the Oaks secured their first victory of the 2025 year in spectacular fashion.


 

Oaks Shine Bright

In an all around team effort, the following Oaks stuck out….

  • Landon Seaman delivered a dominant performance with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. He also contributed 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block in 25 minutes.

  • Austin Ito was on fire from beyond the arc, scoring 15 points on a perfect 5-of-7 three-point shooting.

  • Kareem Rowe added 14 points, shooting 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from deep, while chipping in 3 rebounds and a steal.

  • Nick Davidson showcased his versatility with 12 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds, going 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

  • The Oaks' bench erupted for 38 points, led by key contributions from Salim Arikat (8 points) and Gavin Cox (2 points).

Total Team Effort

The Oaks set the tone early, outscoring the Keelhaulers 42-35 in the first half before exploding for 57 points in the second. Menlo's offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 62% from the field and an impressive 63% from three-point range.

Defensively, Menlo controlled the glass, out-rebounding Cal Maritime 35-24 and forcing 17 turnovers. The Oaks capitalized on those mistakes, scoring 28 points off turnovers while limiting Cal Maritime to just 2 fast-break points. Menlo's unselfish play was evident with 21 assists, highlighting their chemistry and ball movement. The Oaks also dominated in the paint, scoring 38 points inside and converting 19 free throws to seal the win.
