Oaks Women’s Basketball Rallies for Gritty Road Win Over Hawaii Pacific

HONOLULU, HI – Menlo Women's Basketball showcased their skills and determination in Honolulu, securing a hard-fought 70-61 victory over Hawaii Pacific. The Oaks executed down the stretch, outscoring the Sharks 21-13 in the final quarter to clinch the road win.


 

Leading the Charge

Another outstanding performance from the Oaks all around, including highlights from…

  • Jordyn Rosette delivered a dominant performance with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also tallied 4 steals and 2 blocks in a stellar two-way effort. Today accounted for Jordyn's 5th double-double of the season. Rosette currently sits at #8 in the conference with 13.6 points per game. She is also #7 with 7.3 rebounds per game.  

  • Jesni Cooper was a force at the free-throw line, scoring 12 points while going 8-of-10 from the stripe. She added 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

  • Alberte Frisch contributed 12 points and 3 assists, showcasing her efficiency with 8-of-10 shooting from the free-throw line. Frisch is close behind Rosette in the PacWest scoring leaderboards with 13.4 points per game.  

  • Laila Saenz provided a spark off the bench, knocking down a three-pointer and finishing with 9 points in just 13 minutes of action.


 

Closing Strong

The Oaks came out strong, scoring 21 points in the opening quarter while applying defensive pressure that led to 11 steals on the night. Hawaii Pacific responded with a second-quarter surge, but Menlo's defensive intensity held firm, limiting the Sharks to just 26 points in the second half.

Menlo capitalized on their defensive efforts, turning 20 Hawaii Pacific turnovers into 19 points. Their discipline at the free-throw line also played a key role, as they converted 21-of-28 attempts. With clutch plays from Rosette and Cooper in the fourth quarter, the Oaks sealed their sixth PacWest victory of the season. The Oaks continue to showcase their defensive prowess and late-game execution, making them a team to watch as the conference season heats up.

With this impressive road win, Menlo improves to 10-9 overall and 6-6 in PacWest play. Menlo Women's Basketball will look to build on this momentum in their next matchup on Saturday, February 1st at 7:30pm PST at Hawaii Hilo. With their confidence soaring, the Oaks are ready to keep climbing the PacWest standings.
