Menlo Women’s volleyball Falls to the Chaminade Silver Swords in Straight Sets

Honolulu, HI – Menlo Women's Volleyball begun their PacWest journey by catching a plane to the island of Oahu, to take on the nationally ranked #7 Chaminade Silver Swords for the first time this season. It was a fight till the end, but the Oaks would ultimately fall in three sets (16-25, 18-25, 15-25).

Oaks Showing Adversity
Despite losing in straight sets to the Silver Swords, Menlo showcased its competitive spirit and resilience throughout the match. In the opening set, Menlo would come out strong and get their offense rolling with kills from multiple Oaks, as well as stopping some of the Silver Swords attacking plays with several blocks, but the Chaminade attackers would come out extra aggressive on the night offensively. The Oaks were unable to find any momentum and drop the first set. In the second set, the Oaks were tailing the Silver Swords in hope to take the lead but were unable to catch a breather and drop the second set 18-25. In the final set, the Oaks would find some rhythm and go on a very early 3-0 lead and then Chaminade decided to go on a 10-point swing and hold a comfortable lead to end the night. The Oaks showed tons of adversity through each set but could not overcome the #7 Silver Swords on Thursday night.

Oahu Natives Performs at Home
Oahu native Maya Saole-Su'e was able to lead the Oaks in kills with 6 on the night while also hitting for a .455% of her attempts. Senior Paige Harman also played a crucial role for Menlo's attack as she was able to obtain 21 assists to her teammates. Hannah Torres was right behind Saole-Su'e in kills with 5 for the night while also collecting 1 assisted block. On the defensive side, another Oahu native Kanani Packer was able to collect 5 digs on the night along with fellow libero Faith Oller. There are a lot of great takeaways that Menlo is able to adaptive and improve on heading into their last match in Hawaii coming this Saturday.
