Oaks Give #7 Jessup All They Can Handle in 7-11 Defeat

Atherton, CA-After plenty of inclement weather and rain delays the Oaks were able to take the field against seventh ranked Jessup for their final GSAC series of the year. It was an outstanding game filled with great pitching, clutch at-bats and some of the best players in the GSAC playing at the peak of their powers. Unfortunately, the Oaks would come up just short against one of the best teams in the nation.

Menlo's Bats Keep Them In It

From an offensive standpoint Menlo has been playing some of their best ball of the year. Today was the seventh time in the teams last nine outings that they scored at least seven runs. Starting centerfield DJ Scott has seamlessly stepped into the lineup during his first season as an Oak and today was no different. Scott would go 3-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Fellow sluggers Jake Koeper and Sage Pera also got the offense going with both batters hitting two-run home runs. Pera would go the distance in the bottom of the fifth with Koeper clearing the fence one inning earlier in fourth. The Oaks last run of the day came courtesy of starting third baseman Zach Dyer who hit a clutch single out to leftfield that put the Oaks ahead late in the eighth inning. In total the Oaks picked up 11 hits to go along with seven runs.

Frank Grant Battles on the Mound

As has been the case for much of this year the Oaks newest ace, Frank Grant was once again dialed in on the mound. The junior out of Las Vegas would pitch just over six innings with a game high eight strikeouts. Over his last three starts Grant is up to 21 strikeouts with two of said games resulting in wins. Menlo has found an ace on the mound and will look to build around his arm for the coming season!

Up Next…

Senior day is next on the docket with Menlo hosting one final doubleheader tomorrow against the Warriors. Be sure to come out and support the Oaks as they look to not only pick up a few final wins but also honor some of the players that have given great memories out at Cartan for the past few years!
