Oaks Drop First Two Games Against Lions In Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa,CA-The Oaks kicked off a four game series against the Vanguard Lions today with a doubleheader down in Costa Mesa. Unfortunately, Menlo would be unable to secure a win through the first two games. Regardless, the team will have a chance to even the score with two more games on deck tomorrow.

Game One: Menlo 4, Lions 5

In the first game of the day the Oaks would take the game down to the final few at bats. Senior Sage Pera continues to be one of the top bats for the team. In three at bats not only would he draw a walk but his late game home run would bring his RBI total up to 18 on the year. Freshman Carter Harris continues to be a solid lead off option with two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base. Harris has been a bright spot for a team that will look to develop the underclassmen abilities. Lastly, Ethan Baird has continued his return to form from a broken hand. In four at-bats he would secure two more hits.

Game Two: Menlo 1, Lions 10

Game two saw the Oaks struggle to really get the offense going. Jonathan Charboneau, Sage Pera and Zach Dyer would all record a hit. The Oaks only run on the day came off the bat of Dominic Anderson-Nakagawa would would drive in an RBI in the fourth inning for the Oaks lone point of game two.

Up Next…

There will be another two games against the Lions coming up tomorrow with a chance for the Oaks to even up the series. Returning home with a 2-2 record will help the Oaks get back into the win column and build momentum into the rest of GSAC play.
