Baseball Splits Saturday Series Against Vanguard

Costa Mesa, CA-After an 0-2 start to their road trip down in Costa Mesa, Menlo Baseball was able to pick up a win on the road. For the day, Menlo would split the season series thanks to gritty, one run win in the first game of the day.

Game One: Menlo 8, Vanguard 7

The first game of the day seemed to be all but over heading into the ninth inning. With the final inning of play the Oaks trailed by three. Yet, coach Alex Hoover's squad would erupt for four runs in the ninth to come from behind and win by a single point. Four Oaks would have multiple hits with DJ Scott leading the team with three hits including a double and homerun. Sage Pera and Jonathan Charboneau would combine for four hits and four RBI's as well. It was a good showing for the Oaks offense with 11 total hits, eight runs and a great bounce back effort after struggling to put up runs the day before.

Game Two: Menlo 0, Vanguard 10

Unfortunately, the Oaks offense could not keep the momentum rolling heading into the second game. Menlo could only muster two hits across the seven innings. They will look to right the ship as they return to Menlo.

Up Next…

Menlo returns home to Cartan Field for a three game series against the Masters next week. It has been difficult for the Oaks to play at home given the weather but now the team should be able to get back on their home field with the weather beginning to turn!
