Atherton, CA-The Oaks fought hard today in a four set match, unfortunately falling short after a very tough battle. Today's game put the Men's Volleyball team up against the #1 ranked NAIA team in the nation, The Vanguard Lions. The Lions were able to take out the Oaks and hand them their fourth loss of the season. Following a great win last night against the Hope International Royals, The Oaks tried their best to knock out #1 but couldn't hang on long enough.
Good Day to be a Middle
While the Oaks battled the Lions and came up short, our two middle blockers had excellent games. Dyan Cohan and Gabriel Knittel were both able to pick up a hitting average of 0.600 across the four sets. Cohan racked up four block assists while Knittel had one solo block and one block assist. The pair of middles had nine kills as a pair and had an outstanding zero errors, a much needed performance from the big men. Their performances helped the oaks take the second set from the Lions. Other notable players for the Oaks included Julius Steimer, who was the kill leader for the Oaks, picking up 14 kills. William Lawler had a solid game and picked up a respectable 31 assists. While the Oaks were not able to come through with the win, they played hard and showed grit.
Up Next…
Next week the Oaks take on Arizona Christian at home. After a tough match today, the boys will look to bounce back next Friday, March 22 inside Haynes-Prim Pavilion.
