Men's Volleyball Handles Royals in Three Set Sweep

Atherton, CA-The Oaks Sweep! Menlo Men's Volleyball took care of business against the Hope International Royals in a three set match to move their conference record to 2-2 and overall record to 10-3. The #6 Oaks looked strong with a new addition to the starting lineup, Jake Kane. Jake stepped big time to assist the Oaks in winning their second conference game of the year.

They Kane Do It All!

Junior Outside Hitter Jake Kane had an outstanding performance tonight with a team high 13 kills as well as a team high 0.591 hitting percentage. Previously in the season, his brother Connel Kane had an amazing debut, but tonight it was Jack's turn. Jack recorded a kill on nearly every other attempt with zero errors. Jack was assisted by his setter, William Lawler who racked up a whopping 43 assists in a three set match. Wojciech Nowak and Alijah Bermudez were able to fight off the attacks of the Royals and picked up 17 digs as a pair. Truly working as a team, the Oaks were able to defend their home court in a surgical win against their southern California opponent.

Sweep in the Bay

After a slow start in the first, the Oaks squeaked out the win, taking the set at 28-26. After their nerves settled, sets two and three were trouble-free, ending 25-12 and 25-17. While three different hitters averaged over a 0.500 hitting percentage the Oaks truly shined on defense. The team recorded 37 digs on the night which in turn allowed their offense to thrive. On top of that the Oaks recorded 12 total blocks, two of which were solo's. The Oaks defense shined bright today and paved the way for a clean victory.
