ATHERTON, CA – In their captivating first PacWest encounter at Haynes-Prim Pavilion, Menlo Men's Basketball showcased grit and determination but narrowly fell to Vanguard University, 74-77. The tightly contested game kept fans on the edge of their seats with its dynamic pace and intense momentum swings. The competitive drive picked up right where it was left off after both teams have now transitioned from the GSAC to the PacWest Conference.

Landon Seaman delivered an outstanding performance, leading the Oaks with 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting and securing 12 rebounds for a commanding double-double. He also contributed a block and a steal.

Turnovers, however, plagued Menlo's efforts, as 23 giveaways resulted in 27 points for Vanguard. The Lions' defensive intensity was evident, with 12 steals disrupting the Oaks' rhythm at crucial junctures. Menlo's defense countered effectively, holding Vanguard to a modest 32% shooting from beyond the arc (5-of-16) and forcing 13 turnovers of their own.
The second half saw the action reach a boiling point, with both teams exchanging leads and executing clutch plays.
