ATHERTON, CA – Menlo Men's Basketball proved they can compete with the PacWest's best, pushing Chaminade University to the brink in a hard-fought 88-92 loss at Haynes-Prim Pavilion. The Oaks showcased their resilience and determination, battling through a game filled with lead changes and standout performances.

Oak Standouts

Landon Seaman showcased his second double-double of the season with other standout performances off the bench.

  • Preston Le Gassick contributed 17 points, hitting 6-of-12 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, while also dishing out 6 assists and grabbing 6 rebounds.

  • Riley Robinson was a near-perfect 12-of-14 from the free-throw line, finishing with 12 points and 2 rebounds, adding steady contributions in 30 minutes of play.

  • Nick High added 12 points on an efficient 4-of-7 shooting, paired with 5 rebounds and a block.

  • Quentin Thompson provided a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points in just 20 minutes of action, including a highlight-reel dunk in the second half.

Inside the Action

The Oaks came out strong, taking a 45-40 lead into halftime on the strength of their aggressive play in the paint. Menlo dominated inside, scoring 52 points in the paint compared to Chaminade's 44, and controlled the glass with 33 rebounds to the Silverswords' 32.

Menlo's offense was efficient, shooting 54% from the field and converting 27-of-38 free throws, maintaining pressure on Chaminade throughout. Their defense created opportunities as well, forcing 15 turnovers and scoring 16 points off those mistakes. The Oaks' bench added 21 points, highlighting the team's depth and desire to out-perform.

However, turnovers and Chaminade's sharp shooting in key moments proved decisive. Menlo's 21 turnovers translated to 28 points for the Silverswords. Despite the loss, the Oaks matched Chaminade in rebounding and stayed competitive through hustle plays and second-chance opportunities.
