Menlo Women's Volleyball Fights Hard but Falls to Fresno Pacific in Three Sets

Fresno, CA – Menlo Women's Volleyball headed down to Fresno, CA in order to take on the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds on their home court. The Oaks put up a highly competitive effort but would fall to Fresno Pacific in three sets.

Clashing for Control
In the first set, Menlo started the match off strong but quickly faced Fresno Pacific's offense that took control early on. The Sunbirds tallied a high hitting percentage which made it difficult for the Oaks to find momentum. The Sunbirds serving proved difficult for Menlo to maintain and dropped the first set 15-25. The second set showed how Menlo was struggling against Fresno Pacific's offense. The Oaks unfortunately allowed 8 aces and the pressure from the line made it difficult for Menlo to establish any rhythm, dropping to second set 15-25. The third set was the most competitive of the match, with Menlo pushing Fresno Pacific to the brink. The set featured six ties and a couple lead changes, as Menlo fought hard to extend the match. The Oaks collected 11 kills and staying close, allowing for them to capitalize on Fresno Pacific's 8 attack errors. The set remained close until the Sunbirds were able to pull away late, taking the final set 22-25. The set showed their skills to compete at a high level against tough opponents.

Standout Performers
Despite the setback, several Oaks delivered impressive performances that kept the match competitive. Hannah Torres once again led the Oaks with a team-high 11 kills while hitting a .300 hitting percentage. Beatrice Manzon was the main setter again tonight as she tallied 21 assists on the match. Giulia Marinelli contributed 6 kills while libero Julia Tena led the Oaks with 12 digs on the night. Janet Moala showed her versatility on the court, collecting 3 kills and 3 critical service aces.
