Menlo Women's Volleyball Secures Dominant Win Over Dominican University in Straight Sets

ATHERTON, CA – In a spooky themed home matchup inside of Haynes-Prim Pavilion, Menlo Women's Volleyball showcased a masterclass performance, defeating Dominican University in straight sets.
 

Dominant from the Beginning
In the first set, the Oaks were able to set the tone of the entire match. Menlo came out swinging with powerful attacks and multiple service aces that built an early lead. The Oaks defense was also on full display, as there were 19 digs as well as 3 blocks. The Oaks well-timed blocks and aces were pivotal in keeping the momentum in their favor, which secured them the first set of the match 25-15. The second set showed that Menlo took their performance to another level. Building off of their momentum in the first set, the Oaks offense continued to shine as there was 12 kills and an impeccable 6 service aces. Every bit of Menlo's offense and defense were clicking tonight, as the Oaks were ablet to take the set 25-15. The third set showcased the Oaks ability to finish the match strong. Dominican however, would not hold back and fought with more intensity in the set, keeping the score close and forcing several ties early on. The set remained competitive, but Menlo's ability to execute under pressure allowed them to drift away in the final moments of the match. The Oaks were able to finally secure the set 25-20, completely the sweep and capping off a terrific all-around performance.
 

Defensive Masterclass
Kanani Packer and Julia Tena made their mark on the match, securing important digs that kept Menlo's offense rolling as the match went on. Packer was able to secure 10 digs and 3 aces, with Tena leading the group along with Maya Saole-Su'e each collecting 12 digs. Hannah Torres does what she does best as she led the Oaks with 16 kills and hit an outstanding .406 hitting percentage. Keely Grant was also an important figure for the Oaks, as she delivered 12 kills with a remarkable .600 hitting percentage and secured 3 blocks on the night. Beatrice Manzon was the Oaks playmaker for the night, as she tallied an impressive 35 assists that set her teammates up for success. Manzon also added on 3 service aces to her already stellar performance. The win highlights Menlo's continued development and strength in the conference as they prepare for their challenge.
