Menlo Women's Volleyball Falls to Chaminade in Four Sets

ATHERTON, CA – Menlo Women's Volleyball held an all-white home match against the Silverswords of Chaminade University. Menlo headed into the match looking to continue their momentum from Sunday's clutch win against the Hawaii Pacific Sharks.

BATTLING IT OUT
In the opening set, Menlo's defense struggled early to contain Chaminade's attack as they took control early and took the first set 14-25. In the second set, Menlo made some strategic changes going into the set. The Oaks attack was significantly more effective this set, achieving an impressive .375 hitting percentage. The Oaks serving also proved to be a major factor, with four service aces that disrupted Chaminade's rhythm. The Oaks defense also stepped up with solid blocking and digs that shook Chaminade's offensive attempts. The Oaks were able to capitalize on the Silverswords mistakes and took the second set 25-18. The third set happened to be another struggle for Menlo overall. Despite Menlo's strong performance in the previous set, the Oaks struggled to maintain their momentum in the third and fell to Chaminade 13-25. The fourth and final set was another intense battle between the Oaks and Silverswords. The Oaks fought valiantly, tying the game at multiple points but critical attack errors in key moments allowed Chaminade to pull away and secure the set and overall victory.

WALL MOALA
Janet Moala had an impressive all-around performance leading the team with a .625 hitting percentage and delivering 5 kills. She also was the main blocker on the team totaling 4 blocks, including 3 solo blocks, along with 3 critical service aces. Beatrice Manzon was the key contributor in setting up the offense and collected 17 assists. Hannah Torres was able to lead the Oaks in kills with 11 on the night and 2 block assists, teammate Keely Grant also was able to collect 2 block assists along with Torres. Despite the loss, Menlo's overall performance highlighted their ability to compete at a high level and demonstrated praise for their upcoming matches.
