Santa Clarita, CA- As the final weeks of September get started Menlo Men's & Women's Cross Country headed down to Southern California to participate in The Master's Invitational. The Oaks would toe the line against conference rivals such as Hope International, Vanguard and hosting TMU.
Team Wide Improvement
The biggest takeaway from the weekend was the impressive drop in times for many of the Oaks. It was evident that the training and preparation between the teams first competition and this weekend was on full display .The Oaks top runners at the start of the month, Marc Hegele and Alex Kemei posted huge season PRs on the day. Hegele and Kemei would actually finish at the same time, running 26:41.5 after both running well over 27 minutes earlier this month.
The women's team also saw huge strides across the six kilometer course compared to their performance earlier in the month. Daniela Ramirez-Arteaga led the way once again, this time crossing the finish line in 26:11.5. She would shave over two minutes off of her previous six kilometer time! Overall, every Oak would go on to run a faster time than they had previously across either the eight or six kilometer distances!
Up Next…
Menlo will have another week to recover and prepare for their next meet. The Oaks will return to San Francisco for the SF State Invitational on October, 6th. With the progress being made by both programs look to Coach Kevin Mangan's teams to continue to get faster as the season progresses!
