Kevin Mangan enters his second year with Menlo’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs after a first season that saw both programs make great strides. In his first season at the helm, Mangan helped lead Menlo’s Men’s Cross Country team to its first ever meet victory at the Jessup Warrior Invitational in late October. Mangan would cap off the Cross Country season by coaching the GSAC’s Freshman of the Year in Emmanuel De Leon. Under Mangan’s guidance, De Leon not only qualified for the NAIA National Meet but ran the fastest time at nationals in Menlo history.

Mangan’s athletes also found success during the Track & Field season. Mangan was responsible for the recruitment and coaching of Neil-Matthew Sutherland, the reigning GSAC Champion in the 110 meter hurdles. Sutherland went on to qualify for the NAIA National Meet as well. A handful of other athletes had postseason success in multiple events including the javelin, shotput and 4x800 meters.

Prior to his time at Menlo, Mangan spent three seasons at the helm of the Cross Country program at the University of Tennessee Martin.  In that time, he was also an assistant coaching middle distance for the track team. Mangan coached five All Ohio Valley Conference runners as the head coach of the cross country program, helping both men's and women's sides to fourth place finishes in the OVC last year. Prior to serving as the Head Coach of UTM, Mangan was an assistant for the Skyhawks for two seasons.

Coach Mangan's coaching resume also includes stops at Florida State and Baylor.  He competed in cross country and graduated from the University of Washington in 2014 with a degree in communications, and earned his master's degree in sports pedagogy while coaching at Baylor.
