Softball Falls Short in Both Games of Doubleheader Against Embry-Riddle

PRESCOTT, AZ -- Softball drops both sides of their doubleheader against Embry-Riddle, 5-1 and 11-2 (5 innings).

Game 1: Menlo 1 - 5 Embry-Riddle
Menlo was facing some tough pitching today against Vanessa Brink of the Eagles. The Oaks were able to knock 5 hits off of her. In the top of the 4th inning, Emma Medina started a 2-out rally after she tripled to center field. Grace Christian brought her home with an RBI single through the left side for the easy score from Medina. Grace Christian went 2-3 with an RBI in Game 1. On the season so far Christian leads the team with her .403 batting average and 29 hits. That lands her 4th in the conference in batting average!

Game 2: Menlo 2 - 11 Embry-Riddle (5 innings)
The Oaks fell short to the Eagles in Game 2, this time in 5 innings. Menlo got some hope from Emma Wilson in the top of the 2nd inning. Bella Cortez was on third base and Macie Figueroa made it to second with only 1 out against the Oaks. Emma Wilson sacrifice flew out to center field for the RBI and the Cortez score to get on the board to make it 6-1.

In a last change effort Menlo was able to add one more run in the top of the 5th inning. After an Emma Wilson single and an Alexandra Attard double, Lara Edeker had runners in scoring position with only 1 out. Edeker was able to get the ball in play to score Wilson for a RBI to make it 11-2. Emma Wilson went 1-1 in Game 2 with an RBI and a run scored. The Eagles pulled off the 5 inning victory and held Menlo to just the 2 runs.
