Big Top of the 1st
Â
The Oaks jumped out to an early lead in the game, catalyzed by a bases-loaded walk to first baseman Sage Pera that scored Erik Quinzon. Pera, who hit a towering home run yesterday, has become a crucial cog in the Menlo offense this season.Â
Â
Back-to-back singles by Sean Pettener and Cooper Paulino brought home 2 more runs for the Oaks in the forms of Anthony Masetti and Jonathan Charboneau. The inning then came full-circle when a sacrifice fly by Chaz Kaneakua brought Sage Pera across home plate.
Â
Shutdown Relief
Â
Sophomore right-hander Anthony Tellez entered the game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 4th inning, ultimately staying in the game for 3.2 innings. He held the Urban Knights to just 3 hits in that time, striking out 2 and allowing no walks or runs.
Â
Australian Richard Kiel contributed the final 2 outs of the game, retiring both batters in just 5 pitches.
